One of our Fulham Town Councillors, Andrew Dinsmore, was recently the victim of a machete attack in South Kensington. He was confronted with a frightening 18-inch blade. We are calling for the ban of selling machetes in online stores, such as Amazon.
His ordeal was recently covered by ITV news here: https://www.itv.com/news/london/2022-05-16/balaclava-clad-moped-thugs-armed-with-18-inch-machete-steal-councillors-watch
This attack was one of seven within ten days. Of those seven, three of the victims were harmed (including one to the face). The day before Andrew's attack, another victim was stabbed through the chest in central London and killed during a mugging. Subsequently, a Fulham resident was attacked whilst walking back from the supermarket at 6pm, and hospitalised.
Machetes are the common theme. There is no legitimate use for these weapons. The fact you can buy them freely online, with some retailers offering to sell you a balaclava at the same time, is completely unacceptable! This must stop now!
We've banned flip blades. We've banned samurai swords. Now we must ban machetes.
Please sign this petition to ban the sale of machetes in the UK.
