RBKC Council have proposed to give households in Bands A to D a £100 rebate on their council tax bill if they are not eligible for support grants. This rebate will assist families struggling with the cost of living crisis. Additionally, the Council will not increase council tax in stark contrast to other London boroughs like neighbouring Labour-run Hammersmith & Fulham where council tax is going up by 5%, the maximum amount.
Discussing the subject, Johnny Thalassites, Lead Member for Finance and Customer Delivery, said: “Our priority here in Kensington and Chelsea is to keep taxes and costs down for local residents wherever possible and to protect essential services.”
The Council will vote on these proposals on March 1st.
