Labour-run H&F Council have decided to double the parking charges in our borough (and in some cases they have been quadrupled!). This is unfair on our residents, hitting hardest the families and vulnerable people dependent on their car. People are being discouraged from shopping locally, when we should be helping support the great independent shops in our area. If people drive further that means more congestion and increased emissions too! Please help support our campaign to get these charges reversed, and a fairer deal for local car owners.
Even the lowest emission vehicles still face a doubling of parking charges in some parts of the borough. Rather than being a decision that will make our borough greener, Hammersmith & Fulham Council are happy penalising electric vehicles too, simply looking to rake in more money from residents.
We are concerned too at the impact this is having on the small businesses and great local independent shops in our area, already hit hard by the restrictions during the pandemic. They all rely on their customers being able to park their cars on our borough’s streets, as opposed to driving to large shopping centres and supermarkets with their own car parks. The Council should be supporting our local high streets, not helping kill them off.
