Petition for better regulated delivery drivers on our streets

Most of the delivery motorbikes seem to be driven by LEARNER DRIVERS who have not passed a test and do not seem to know the HIGHWAY CODE. They are discourteous drivers and downright dangerous. Residents are complaining daily and many are keeping files of photographic evidence.

Petition for better regulation of delivery drivers

  • Current Your details
We, the undersigned, demand:

  • The Police should be more proactive in catching them violating our highway laws
  • Companies should be licensed by the Planning or Licensing regime at the Council
  • The companies should only employ fully qualified drivers, who have passed a test and who understand the Highway Code. They should receive mandatory training at work.
  • These warehouse premises should only be allowed by planning committee decision, with public debate and residents’ objections listened to, not by “permitted development”.
  • Companies who do not manage and control their drivers – dangerous driving, loitering in gangs, smoking, chatting and parking all across the road, causing obstructions – should be banned from trading. Noisy or polluting bikes should be seized.
  • Responsible companies and operators in the home-delivery business should welcome Licensing, just like our restaurants, pubs and off-licences. They should not be allowed to locate in our quiet residential streets.
